2009 Riesling

Winemaking Notes:

Selected from multiple vineyards, each parcel was harvested separately, based on the flavours that had developed and the natural acidity in the grapes. Each lot of grapes were gently pressed with no skin contact, and cold settled for five days on average, resulting in clear juice with very few solids. The juice was then fermented at cold temperatures in stainless steel tanks using multiple yeast strains for an average of twenty-five days. The fermentation was stopped when the desired sugar/acid/alcohol balance was achieved, making the final wine off-dry in style. Kept on light lees until final filtration and bottling.

Awards & Accolades:

Silver Medal - 2010 All Canadian Wine Awards
Bronze Medal - 2010 Ottawa Wine and Food Show Wine Challenge

Flavour and value packed, there isn’t much of this on LCBO shelves; it’s worth seeking out. The delicate nose offers soft floral notes and some minerality. The off-dry, palate-coating flavours of racy lime, ripe pineapple and succulent nectarine provide that glorious fusion of sweet and tang that pairs well with Asian cuisine. This is mid weight, very nicely textured dishing out a fabulous lip-smacking finish. Speaking of dishes, try pad Thai. Also available for daily home or office delivery from Fielding. - Vic Harradine, www.winecurrent.com
